Privacy Policy for SockDiary

This Privacy Policy explains how SockDiary (the “App”) handles information when you use it. SockDiary is developed and operated by the independent developer identified in the Contact Us section (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

1. Summary

SockDiary is designed to keep your personal content under your control:

Photos are analyzed on your device using Apple Vision, Core ML, and bundled machine-learning models. They are not sent to us or to a third-party image-processing service.
Your sock and outfit library is stored on your device. When iCloud is available for the App, the library is also synchronized through your personal iCloud account.
Your nickname, avatar, appearance settings, onboarding status, and reminder settings are stored locally on your device and are not included in SockDiary’s iCloud library sync.
Daily reminders are local notifications. SockDiary does not operate a push-notification server or upload your reminder schedule.
SockDiary has no account system, advertising, or cross-app tracking. We use Mixpanel for limited, pseudonymous product analytics described below, and RevenueCat for the limited purchase analytics described below.
Apple and RevenueCat process limited purchase and technical information to offer, validate, analyze, and restore the SockDiary Pro lifetime purchase.

2. Information Handled by the App

2.1 Photos and generated content

When you choose to take or select a photo, the App may process:

camera photos and the images you specifically select with Apple’s system photo picker;
sock cutouts, masks, previews, outfit images, and two-dimensional sock designs generated from those photos;
visual attributes derived on the device, such as dominant color, style, pattern, presentation, and favorite status; and
images you create for saving or sharing.

Image recognition, segmentation, background removal, color analysis, and design generation take place on your device. The App saves content to your library only after you confirm the relevant action. If you ask the App to save an export to Photos, the App requests add-only access and writes the selected output to your photo library.

The App does not use your photos for advertising, train remote artificial-intelligence models with them, or send them to us.

2.2 Library and calendar data

To provide the collection, outfit, and calendar features, the App stores information such as:

randomly generated item identifiers;
sock and outfit images;
creation, update, and wear dates;
the relationship between a sock, an outfit, and a calendar date;
display order, favorites, categories, colors, style descriptions, and design settings; and
deletion records containing item identifiers, which prevent deleted items from reappearing during synchronization and preserve the free version’s lifetime creation count.

This information is stored in the App’s private storage on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is available to the App, SockDiary automatically keeps a copy in its private iCloud Documents container so your library can synchronize across your devices. We do not operate a server that receives this library data.

2.3 Profile, preferences, and reminders

The optional nickname and avatar you provide, along with App appearance preferences, onboarding status, and reminder settings, are stored locally on your device. Your nickname and avatar may be included in an image only when you choose to export or share that image.

If you enable a daily reminder, the selected time and enabled status are stored locally, and iOS schedules the notification on the device. The App does not upload your routine and does not receive a push-notification token.

2.4 Purchase and entitlement information

SockDiary offers a one-time, non-consumable SockDiary Pro purchase through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes payment information; we do not receive your full payment-card details.

The App uses RevenueCat to display the product offering, validate purchases, determine entitlement status, and restore purchases. RevenueCat may process:

an automatically generated anonymous App User ID;
product identifiers, purchase receipts or tokens, transaction history, purchase status, and entitlement status;
App and device technical information, such as App version, device type, operating-system version, locale, IP address, and timestamps such as last-seen time; and
related request and service-operation information needed to provide and secure purchase services.

RevenueCat uses purchase information for App functionality, receipt validation, fraud prevention, customer purchase history, and purchase analytics such as revenue charts. SockDiary does not provide RevenueCat with your nickname, avatar, sock photos, outfit photos, contact list, precise location, or advertising identifier. Because the App has no account system, the RevenueCat identifier is not intentionally tied by us to your real-world identity.

2.5 Product analytics

SockDiary uses Mixpanel to understand aggregate use of the App. The App sends pseudonymous usage events only when you complete onboarding or successfully add socks to your library. These events include the event time, a Mixpanel-generated device identifier, App version and platform, and limited numeric counts needed to measure socks added and the size of a library after an addition.

Mixpanel’s iOS software development kit may also collect technical information automatically, such as App, operating-system, device, screen, and approximate location information derived from an IP address. We do not send your nickname, avatar, sock photos, outfit photos, saved library records, contact list, precise location, advertising identifier, or payment details to Mixpanel. Because SockDiary has no account system, this analytics data is not intentionally tied by us to your real-world identity.

2.6 Information you send to us

If you contact us for support, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, and attachments. Please do not send sensitive photos or information that is not necessary for us to answer your request.

3. Device Permissions

SockDiary may request the following permissions only when needed:

Camera: to photograph socks or outfits. The App captures a photo when you choose to do so; it does not record audio.
Photos selection: Apple’s system photo picker lets you provide only the images you select, without giving the App unrestricted access to your photo library.
Add to Photos: to save an image you create or export to your photo library.
Notifications: to schedule the optional daily reminder locally on your device.

You can change these permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Some related features will not work after permission is withdrawn, but the rest of the App will remain available where technically possible.

4. How We Use Information

Information is handled only as reasonably necessary to:

provide photo capture, on-device recognition, collection, outfit, calendar, export, and sharing features;
store and synchronize your library through iCloud;
schedule reminders you request;
offer, validate, analyze, and restore the SockDiary Pro purchase;
maintain the free version’s lifetime sock-creation allowance;
understand aggregate onboarding completion and sock-library usage;
respond to support requests, troubleshoot problems, protect the App and purchase system, and comply with legal obligations; and
establish, exercise, or defend legal claims where necessary.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent for optional permissions and content you choose to provide; performance of the service you request for core App, iCloud, and purchase functions; our legitimate interests in securing and supporting the App; and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent through iOS Settings or by no longer using the optional feature. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before it was withdrawn.

5. When Information Is Disclosed

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

Information may be handled by the following parties only for the purposes described in this Policy:

Apple: iOS provides camera, photo-picker, local-notification, iCloud, and App Store purchase services. Apple’s handling of data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat: RevenueCat processes purchase, entitlement, and related technical information as our service provider. Its practices are described in the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
Mixpanel: Mixpanel processes the limited product-analytics information described above as our service provider. Its practices are described in the Mixpanel Privacy Policy.
Recipients you choose: When you use the system share sheet, save to Photos, or otherwise export content, the destination you select receives that content. Its handling of the content is governed by its own terms and privacy practices.
Legal and safety disclosures: We may disclose information we possess if reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process; protect users, the public, our rights, or the security of the App; or investigate fraud or abuse.
Business transfers: If responsibility for the App is transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, relevant information may be transferred subject to this Policy and applicable law.

We require service providers that process information on our behalf to use it only for the authorized services and to protect it consistently with this Policy and applicable law.

Third-party services may process information in countries other than your own. Their processing, retention, security measures, and international transfers are governed by their agreements, privacy notices, and applicable legal safeguards.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Device content: Local library content remains until you use an available in-App deletion control, delete the App, or erase the device. Deleting a sock in the App removes that sock’s image and unlinks it from calendar entries, but it preserves historical outfit photos. Deleting the App generally removes its local container, subject to iOS behavior and any device backup you control.
iCloud content: When iCloud sync is active, an in-App sock deletion removes the sock image and syncs that deletion to the App’s iCloud container. A deletion record containing the item’s random identifier remains to keep the sock deleted across devices and enforce the free version’s lifetime creation limit. Historical outfit photos are not deleted when their linked sock is deleted. To remove remaining SockDiary data from iCloud, use the iCloud storage-management options provided in your Apple account or device settings. Apple controls the names and availability of those options.
Local profile and settings: You can remove your avatar, clear your nickname, disable reminders, and change permissions in the App or iOS Settings. Uninstalling the App generally removes these local settings.
Exports: Copies you save to Photos or send to another app are separate from SockDiary’s library. Deleting an item in SockDiary does not delete those exported copies; you must delete them from the destination separately.
Purchases: Apple and RevenueCat retain transaction and entitlement records according to their legal obligations and retention policies. Some transaction records may need to be retained for financial, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, or legal reasons even after a deletion request.
Product analytics: Mixpanel retains pseudonymous analytics information according to our Mixpanel retention settings and its applicable policies. You may contact us to request assistance with information that we or Mixpanel control.
Support communications: We retain support correspondence only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the request, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes, and comply with law.

Because SockDiary has no user account and we cannot directly access content in your device’s private storage or personal iCloud container, we cannot remotely delete those copies for you. You can delete individual sock records with the in-App controls. To remove all remaining local and synchronized library data, remove the App and its local data from each device and delete SockDiary’s stored data using Apple’s iCloud storage-management controls; otherwise, a remaining local or iCloud copy may synchronize again. You may contact us for help with these steps or to request deletion of information we or RevenueCat control. We may need limited information to locate the relevant purchase record and verify the request.

7. Security

We use the security features provided by iOS and the App sandbox, keep photo analysis on the device, and limit third-party transmission to the purchase and analytics services described above. iCloud and App Store data are protected by Apple’s security measures, and RevenueCat and Mixpanel state that application data is encrypted in transit.

No storage or transmission method is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device, Apple Account, exported files, and device backups.

8. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or a portable copy of certain personal information, or to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to withdraw consent and complain to your local data-protection authority.

You can exercise many choices directly by:

deleting individual sock records or changing profile information in the App;
disabling iCloud for SockDiary or managing its iCloud storage in Apple settings;
revoking camera, Photos, or notification permission in iOS Settings;
disabling the in-App daily reminder;
deleting exported copies from Photos or the destination to which you sent them; and
using Apple’s purchase-management tools for App Store transactions.

For a request concerning information handled by us, Mixpanel, or RevenueCat on our behalf, contact us using the address below. We will respond as required by applicable law. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify and fulfill your request. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law.

9. Children’s Privacy

SockDiary is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required by local law to consent to data processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through an account or advertising system. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App, third-party services, or legal requirements. We will update the “Last updated” date above and provide additional notice when required by law. Your continued use of the App after an update is governed by the updated Policy.
